Intentional Community and Success: Lecture by Bob Flatley on Friday, April 30, 2010 at 7:30PM

Cooperative living makes a lot of practical sense in terms of saving resources, maximizing return on labor, and building synergistic relationships. However, it has been estimated that 9 out of 10 intentional communities in the United States fail within the first few years. Why do some communities succeed while others fail? What factors characterize successful intentional communities? This talk presents research on these questions through a historical review of major intentional communities, a review of the literature and a survey of people currently living in intentional community.

Bob Flatley has been researching intentional communities for over 20 years. He is a long-time member of the School of Living and a founding member of Ahimsa Village, an intentional community startup near State College, PA.
